Magnet and Immersion

This note will be coming home today.

We also will be hosting an Open House for prospective families tonight and next Thursday.

Please call or stop by if you need a hand applying for the Magnet Program.

Coming home today:

Dear Goldsmith Parent:

It is hard to believe, but it is actually time to start thinking about next school year!

As you may know, Goldsmith Elementary is a district magnet school. We offer the International and Cultural Studies Magnet, and all students are involved. This year, I would like for all current Goldsmith students (grades K-4) to apply to be “Magnet Students” for two reasons. The first reason is that it strengthens our programming when we have more students who have officially expressed interest in participating in the magnet. The second reason is that the District can provide bus transportation in the event that you move out of our “resides area” (as long as you are in area 8-13).

To apply for our International Cultural Studies Magnet, go to the Parents section of the JCPS website. The application window is currently open and our school staff can help you if you have computer issues.

If you have an upcoming kindergartener in your family, and you would like for them to participate in our Dual Language Spanish Immersion program, please apply for the magnet program. Students who have applied for the Magnet Program will be given priority for the Spanish Immersion program.

Finally, we have recently had two students move away and have two seats available in the first grade class for Spanish Immersion. If you are interested in this for your current first grader, please call the school and we will arrange for you to observe the program and decide if you want your child to participate.
